Quick Overview

By Dena Schusterman

Dena shared lots of pictures and ideas about how she Involves parents in her school – including planning and participating in Yard Day, IJP Play dates, Adults Social, Curriculum Night, Mom’s Night Out, Dad’s Night Out, Book Club, and other smaller ways parents can be involved

Some points addressed:

  • Give them ownership
  • Impart your standards, but be forgiving
  • 2 type of projects: Preschool own the project and parents volunteer. 2. PTO owns the project and school helps.
  • Break up roles into bite size pieces.
  • Trust the parents’ ideas – they really have ear to the ground.
  • Parents and teachers can work together for the event
  • Think of the parents and how they might get involved
